Copyright 1998 -- Robert Baer Jr A poem -- Part Time Job Part Time Job I've held many part time jobs During all my years on earth Doing various and sundry things And time will measure their worth I once sat "behind the mike" At our local radio station Talking of sports with analysis Of teams across the nation Teaching night school was fun At our local Vo-Tech Center Working with lots of students To whom I served as mentor Being paid for my advice Was a very big thrill for me As a Computer Consultant Fixing problems that I could see But now my latest part-time job Is one that I didn't seek The role of part-time father That I "do" only once a week My loving seven year old son Was the only "good" my marriage produced Now my ex-wife stands in the distance Living with the man that she seduced Part time jobs do come and go Corporations rise and fall But the part-time that I hold now Is the most important one of all!
